CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has appointed an engineer as the newest member of the state Senate. Tomblin named Summersville resident Greg Boso to the post Friday afternoon.
Boso will serve the two years remaining on the term held by former Sen. Clark Barnes (R-Randolph) who resigned his seat in the Senate earlier this week to become the new clerk of the Senate.
West Virginia Republican Party Chairman said Boso is a good choice.
“Greg Boso is a family man, a hard-working man, an educated man, and a church-going man. He understands the challenges of trying to build and grow a business in a state that has had so many hurdles for job-creators,” Lucas said in a release. “We believe he will make an exceptional State Senator for the folks of the seven counties in the 11th District.”
Boso is a 1980 graduate of West Virgina Tech and is president of G.L. Boso & Associates, Inc. and Boso & Boso, Inc. in Summersville. He has served in a number of positions on the Summersville Fire Department since 1976.
Gov. Tomblin chose Boso from three names given to him by a Republican senatorial committee.
The Senate has 18 Republicans and 16 Democrats.
