Forensic engineer takes seat in state Senate

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The newest member of the state Senate says he wants to put his experience as a forensic engineer to work in the legislature.

Summersville businessman Greg Boso was sworn-in to office Monday after being appointed late last week by Gov. Ray Tomblin to fill the two years remaining on the term of former Sen. Clark Barnes who was elected the clerk of the Senate.

“One of the things I hope I can do is utilize the skill-sets that I use often to approach things in an unbias manner,” Boso said. “Having come out of the construction industry (I’m interested) in finding ways to create jobs in West Virginia.”

Boso will represent residents in the the seven counties that make up the 11th Senatorial District. He said Monday that for the most part he hasn’t been politically active.

“I give God the glory. He found the right people to begin pursuing me. When you look at the whole grand scheme of things I was an unlikely candidate to be selected but I know that I’m blessed and fortunate to be here.” Boso said.

Boso is a 1980 graduate of West Virginia Tech and is president of G.L. Boso & Associates, Inc. and Boso & Boso, Inc. in Summersville. He has served in a number of positions on the Summersville Fire Department since 1976.
