High School Boys Basketball MetroNews Power Index: Week 2

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Morgantown’s 10-1 start has propelled the Mohigans to No. 1 in the second edition of the MetroNews Power Index for boys high school basketball.

Morgantown earlier this week defeated previous No. 1 Parkersburg South 64-60. The Patriots, now 8-2, come in at No. 9 overall this week. South Charleston (11-0) is No. 2 in the rankings, while Woodrow Wilson (9-0) is No. 3.

Westside (10-1) is the highest Class AA team ranked at No. 4, leap-frogging 10-0 Bridgeport. The Indians are No. 6, just behind No. 5 Huntington (9-2).

Gilmer County remains the highest ranked Class A team at No. 21 with a 9-0 record.

The MetroNews Power Index is a computer based formula that factors in strength of schedule. Records listed are for games played through Tuesday, January 20th.

This is the 28th year for the MetroNews Power Index and 30th season that MetroNews will broadcast the WVSSAC state championship games.
