New state travel guide unveiled

WILLIAMSTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Tourism unveiled its 2015 Travel Guide during a ceremony at the I-77 Welcome Center in Williamstown Wednesday. Travel guide

The guide’s cover features whitewater rafting. Greater Parkersburg Convention and Visitors Bureau President Mark Lewis liked what he saw.

“I think the cover is a great attention getter and really draws you into the piece,” Lewis said.

Gasoline prices are hovering around $2.00 a gallon and Lewis predicted a good 2015 for West Virginia tourism because of it.

“We’re primarily a ‘drive to’ destination–so that can help,” he said. “Tourism is really speaking with one voice.”

Lewis said the official state Travel Guide is a great asset.

“It’s a primary piece that has always worked for us because it brings all of the great offerings that we have in West Virginia in one spot,” Lewis said.
