Police: Charles Town man takes own life after shootings

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — A man suspected of shooting two people Tuesday night took his own life as officers gave chase, police in Jefferson County said.

Charles Town city police said they responded to a call around 7:30 p.m. on Candlewood Drive andfound Billy Harrison II, 37, of Berkeley County, dead and Brian Adams, 36, of Charles Town, with serious gunshot wounds.

Police suspected Patrick Bogden, 44, of Charles Town, and spotted Bogden’s vehicle later that night. After officers attempted to pull him over, Bogden took off and took his own life during the pursuit that went into Berkeley County, police said.

Authorities gave no motive for the killings and are continuing their investigation.

Adams was taken to a Fairfax, Va., hospital and remained in critical condition on Wednesday afternoon.
