Mercer County man killed in Beckley-area crash

BECKLEY, W.Va. — A 21-year-old Mercer County man was killed early Friday morning in a head-on collision.

The Bluefield Daily Telegraph identified the victim as Nathaniel Stratton, of Athens. He was pronounced dead at the scene on Ritter Drive.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department reported that just after midnight Stratton’s car crossed the center line and collided with an approaching tractor-trailer, which caught on fire.

The truck driver was able to escape the burning truck, which was destroyed.
