Daniels music instructor charged with sex assault

DANIELS, W.Va. — State troopers arrested a Beckley man Tuesday and charged him with two felony counts for allegedly touching a 5-year-old student inappropriately.

Keith Janney, 51, faces charges of first-degree sexual assault and sexual assault by a custodian. He is a music teacher at the School of Harmony in Daniels.

After the boy’s mother filed a complaint Monday, troopers said they interviewed Janney before making the arrest.

The School of Harmony’s website describes itself as one of southern West Virginia’s largest fine arts programs.
