KINGMAN, Ariz. — Three Ohio residents wanted in a crime spree that spread through West Virginia and southern states were arrested in Arizona on Thursday.
Police arrested Robert Clark, 29, Tabatha Hazel, 26, and Jeffrey Caley, Jr., 28 following a pursuit. Clark was the chief suspect in an FBI manhunt after he allegedly killed an elderly couple in Ohio last month.
All three are wanted in West Virginia for the armed robbery of a Little General BP near Sissonville last Saturday and the attempted robbery of a convenience store in Jackson County. Investigators said the trio is believed to be responsible for a number of other crimes on an odyssey that stretched into South Carolina and Georgia before they headed west. No one was injured in the robberies.
Clark has been charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of Doyle Chumney, 88, and his wife, Lillian, 79. Their remains were found inside their torched car on Jan. 22, the day after they were reported missing from their home in Coshocton County, Ohio.
The FBI posted a $20,000 reward for Clark’s arrest.
Clark and Hazel were apprehended following the pursuit. Caley initially eluded police but was later arrested.
