19-year-old woman charged in death of Beckley pastor

BECKLEY, W.Va. — A Beckley woman arrested this weekend for breaking into a home subsequently was charged with murdering a local pastor.

Camille Brown, 19, was charged with killing pastor Ron Browning in Beckley.

Police on Monday charged Camille Brown, 19, with the Saturday beating death of Cool Ridge Community Church pastor Ron Browning.

Brown was taken to the Southern Regional Jail after she allegedly broke into a home and tried to bite a police officer on Saturday. Found covered in blood, urine and feces, Brown told police she had murdered a man with gray hair earlier in the day.

The woman reportedly lives on Westwood Drive, a street away from Browning’s home on Odessa Avenue.

Beckley police said they have discovered no motive in the attack on Browning, 68, who appeared to die from blunt force injuries to his head.
