CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for 35 West Virginia counties from 1 a.m. Thursday to 1 a.m. Friday.
Meteorologists said an area stretching from Bluefield to Parkersburg to Fairmont can expect periods of moderate to heavy snow along with blowing snow.
The advisory is calling for a possible 2-4 inches in Jackson, Wood, Pleasants, Tyler, Lincoln, Putnam, Kanawha, Roane, Wirt, Calhoun, Ritchie, Doddridge, Mingo, Greenbrier, Logan, Boone, Clay, Braxton, Gilmer, Lewis, Harrison, McDowell, Wyoming and Raleigh counties.
Snow was projected for 3-5 inches in Taylor, Fayette, Nicholas, Webster, Upshur, Barbour, Pocahontas and Randolph counties.
The most accumulation is being predicted for the western sections of Grant, Mineral and Pendleton counties at 4-6 inches.
