Former principal scheduled to be in court

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Former Capital High School Principal Clinton Giles is scheduled to be in court Tuesday morning after being charged last month with a misdemeanor for not timely reporting an alleged sexual assault that happened at his school.

Giles will appear before Kanawha County Circuit Judge Carrie Webster at 9 a.m.

The alleged incident occurred Monday, Jan. 26, but police were not alerted until a day later according to Kanawha County Prosecutor Chuck Miller.  He alleges Giles deliberately failed to inform police.

A 17-year-old boy is charged with second degree sexual assault. The alleged crime against a 15-year-old girl took place under a school stairwell.

Giles resigned and took retirement the same week he was charged.
