Lincoln levies approved

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Two emergency services levies will continue in Lincoln County.

On Saturday, voters there overwhelmingly approved the continuation of the Lincoln County fire protection levy and the Lincoln County emergency services levy.

Saturday’s election was a redo. In the November election, both levies fell only a couple of percentage points short of the 60 percent threshold needed for passage.

Vote totals this time were more than 90 percent for the fire levy and more than 87 percent for the emergency services levy.

Those levies have been in place for decades and provide about half of the fire protection budget and roughly 20 percent of the EMS budget in Lincoln County.
