Beckley’s Osborne breaks down WVU preferred walk-on opportunity

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Woodrow Wilson senior quarterback, and all-around athlete, Brent Osborne last week officially accepted a preferred walk-on spot with West Virginia.

Osborne is listed at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds and will be utilized as a scout team quarterback for the Mountaineers initially.

“I’m going to stay at quarterback and go through the process,” Osborne said. “I will more than likely redshirt, get my feet wet and see what they have in store for me. I will work as hard as I can to make everyone else around me better. My role will probably be a scout team quarterback – whatever I can do to help get the team ready for the game that week is what I’m ready to do.

“I can’t put into words how excited I am to finally say that I’m a Mountaineer,” Osborne said. “I grew up two or three years old, sitting at Mountaineer Field — my family has a strong tradition of holding season tickets. Our family is full of Mountaineer pride and I can’t even explain how excited I am.”

The complete Sportsline interview with Osborne is posted above.
