CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning Tuesday night for 14 West Virginia counties beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday to 4 p.m. Thursday.
Following a day of heavy rain and the threat of flooding, meteorologists said the rain will turn to snow with a possible 4-8 inches by Thursday afternoon.
The warning covers Wayne, Cabell, Mason, Jackson, Lincoln, Putnam, Kanawha, Roane, Wirt, Calhoun, Ritchie, Doddridge, Boone and Gilmer counties.
The National Weather Service still had most of the rest of the state under a Winter Storm Watch when the latest information was released Tuesday night.
