CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Appalachian Power Company repair crews entered the weekend with 800 separate locations where repairs needed to be made in order for power to be restored to its West Virginia customers.
The company said Friday evening that the number of repair locations had grown even though there was no snow Friday. The heavy snow from Thursday remained on trees which fell into power lines and poles.
“More workers have been secured as the number of outage cases has grown,” the company said.
Mon Power made progress Friday but was also looking at a heavy workload for the weekend to get all customers back into service.
Both companies have brought in hundreds of workers from other states to help. Saturday’s forecast was for temperatures in the 40s which should help the crews.
Appalachian Power said it won’t have all of its customers in Cabell, Jackson, Wayne and Putnam counties back on until Sunday night. The customers in the other counties of its service district could expect power back on by Saturday night according to the company.
Mon Power was also predicting outages through Sunday.
