Kentucky lockmaster discovers body of Morgantown man

WARSAW, KY — Locks and dam workers were trying to get rid of driftwood when they found a Morgantown man’s body in Warsaw, KY.

Kentucky State Police said Robert Preston, 53, was discovered Wednesday at about 1:30 p.m. near Markland Dam.

Kentucky Trooper Mitchel Hazelett, a public affairs officer, said Preston had an identification card with him. Investigators contacted Preston’s estranged wife in Monongalia County and were trying to notify other family member Friday afternoon.

“Last known location for the gentleman was the homeless shelter there in Morgantown. That was approximately one month ago,” said Hazelett. “We don’t have his whereabouts from a month ago until we located him on the 11th.”

Hazelett said there is no indication of foul play in Preston’s death. Toxicology results have not yet been returned.

Preston had not been reported missing.
