Second murder investigation in Huntington

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Huntington Police are investigating a second homicide in as many days. Rodolfo Magana, 28, of Huntington was shot in the 1500 block of Holderby Road around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night.

“The victim had exited his vehicle and was walking to his home in that neighborhood when he was shot multiple times,” said Huntington Police Chief Joe Ciccarelli. “He was transported over to Cabell-Huntington Hospital which is just around the corner and he did not survive those wounds.”

Ciccarelli said detectives have developed no motive for the shooting. They have canvassed the neighborhood and found a number of people who heard the shots fired.

“We’ve talked to the folks in the neighborhood,” he said. “We’re doing the standard types of investigating looking for video and that sort of thing.”

A day earlier, police responded to a shooting at 2021 Donald Avenue. There they found a man dead of multiple gunshot wounds. Charged in that case is Micah Lester, 37, who lived in the home.

Ciccarelli said there is no connection between the two crimes.
