Suspicious fires under investigation in Bluefield

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — Two houses were destroyed in a pair of fires early Friday morning in Bluefield. Investigators consider the blazes suspicious.

Both structures were on fire when crews arrived on Ronceverte Street at shortly after 3 a.m. The second fire was at the corner of Ronceverte and Jackson streets.

Investigators said both houses were unoccupied but had electrical service.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office was called in to investigate.
