Judges appointed to fill upcoming vacancy

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Two senior status judges have been appointed to fill an upcoming vacancy on the bench in northern West Virginia.

State Supreme Court Chief Justice Margaret Workman named Senior Status Judge Robert Stone and Senior Status Judge Arthur Recht Tuesday to replace Judge Mark Karl who is retiring at the end of the month.

Stone will be on the bench for the month of April with Recht beginning May 1. Recht will serve until Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin chooses Karl’s replacement.

Karl has been on the bench in Tyler, Wetzel and Marshall counties for more than 20 years.

The current term ends Dec. 31, 2016.
