WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — The Marshall and West Virginia football teams will enjoy the hospitality of The Greenbrier when they hold intrasquad scrimmages at the White Sulphur Springs resort the next two weekends.
Marshall will use the Advocare Sports Performance Center at the resort this weekend for its practice, and WVU will scrimmage at the facility the week after. The New Orleans Saints moved their training camp their last summer and plan to do so again this preseason. Greenbrier president Jeff Kmiec, who was a guest on Tuesday’s MetroNews “Talkline,” said that the experience for fans would be very unique.
“It’s a football-viewing opportunity like none other,” Kmiec said. “And the good news is because you’ve got a ticket, we invite you to come up to The Greenbrier and enjoy all of the amenities—food, beverage, casino, whatever the case may be.”
He said admission is free, and the ticketed portion of the event for the parking and shuttle service would be $10. Kmiec hopes the scrimmages are another opportunity to show the resort’s expansion.
“We really want to showcase the facility—it’s an incredible spot—and give fans the opportunity to see their team in their backyard instead of traveling all the way to Marshall or WVU,” he said.
Kmiec said the Saints are finalizing dates for the end of July, after the PGA’s Greenbrier Classic.
