Nicholas County school principal charged with sexual abuse

RICHWOOD, W.Va. — A Nicholas County elementary school principal was arrested and arraigned on sexual abuse charges Saturday.

State police said the alleged crimes happened at Cherry River Elementary School in Richwood.

State police said Timothy Bennett, 53, of Nettie, with three counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

Bennett, the principal at Cherry River Elementary School, allegedly improperly touched three school employees on three separate occasions. Troopers said the alleged crimes happened at the school.

Bennett was arraigned in Nicholas County Magistrate Court and released after posting $60,000 bond.

State police indicated the investigation was continuing.
