Pleasants County grocery store destroyed in fire

ST. MARYS, W.Va. — Investigators were working Sunday to determine the cause of the fire that ripped through a Pleasants County grocery store on Saturday afternoon.

St. Marys Galaxy Food Center, located along Route 2, was heavily damaged in the blaze. For a time Saturday, part of Route 2 was blocked to give firefighters room to fight the flames.

Firefighters remained at the scene on Saturday night.

There were no reports of injuries.

Residents said St. Marys Galaxy Food Center is one of only a few grocery options in that area.
