“Leader” and co-defendant enter pleas in drug pipeline

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Philadelphia, Pa. man faces a multi-million dollar fine and 4 decades in prison for drug charges in West Virginia.

Juwan Robert Woods, 32, was convicted in federal court Thursday, blamed for being the ring leader of a drug pipeline from Philadelphia to Morgantown.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Woods, known as Whiz, orchestrated the trafficking of heroin and prescription painkillers into West Virginia.

Woods pleaded guilty in federal court to aiding and abetting the distribution of oxycodone within 1,000 feet of a protected location.

Prosecutors say he sold oxycodone near Wiles Hill Playground in May 2014.

Woods was one of 20 people in a November 2014 federal drug indictment.

He could go to prison for 40 years and be fined $2,000,000.

One of Woods’ 20 co-defendants also entered a plea in court Thursday.

Tara Dustin, 23, of Morgantown faces 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine for selling oxycodone in Monongalia County in May 2-14.

Dustin pleaded guilty to distribution of oxycodone in federal court Thursday.

In November, the U.S. Attorney announced a 65-count federal indictment with dozens of suspects accused in trafficking heroin and painkillers from Philadelphia to Morgantown.

The West Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the Mon Valley Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, and the Morgantown Police Department were involved in the investigation into that drug pipeline.
