Missing Huntington woman returns home

Huntington Fire Department crews began search the Ohio River Friday
Huntington Fire Department crews began searching the Ohio River on Friday, four days after Huntington resident Linda Wasmer was last seen.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Huntington police said a woman reported missing earlier this week returned home Saturday night and was OK.

Linda Wasmer, a 55-year-old nurse, was reported missing Tuesday. She was last seen at her Emmons Avenue home on Monday.

A search for Wasmer was extended to the Ohio River on Friday.

But Huntington police said they received a call from the Greyhound bus station Saturday night alerting them Wasmer had arrived there on a bus from Columbus, Ohio. She was with family members Saturday night.

Wasmer’s friends said her disappearance was out of character, considering how much she loved her nursing job. Many of her personal items were located inside her house.

Wasmer wasn’t there when coworker Janice Jeffers stopped by to pick her up Tuesday morning.

“Monday, I dropped her off after work. She said, ‘I’ll see you in the morning.’ I said, ‘Yep, I’ll see you in the morning.’ Never dreamed I wouldn’t see her in the morning,” Jeffers told WSAZ.
