Bank workers forced to vault by robber

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — A man with a sawed-off shotgun forced workers at a Jefferson County bank to the bank’s vault Tuesday morning to give him more time to get away before police being called.

State police said the man robbed the MVB Bank branch on Route 340 in Charles Town at about 10:45 a.m. The workers, who were able to get out of the vault, were not injured.

Troopers said the man got away with a sizable amount of money. He was wearing a bandana across his face. He was wearing jeans, a coat and a hat. Troopers also said he had on white tennis shoes.
