Juco recruiting target Buay Tuach signs with Loyola Marymount

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — One of West Virginia’s late-cycle recruiting targets is off the table after Northeast (Neb.) Community College shooting guard Buay Tuach signed with Loyola Marymount.

A junior college source told Metronews this week that Tuach was leaning toward signing with the West Coast Conference program, and LMU coach Mike Dunlap made it official Friday.

The 6-foot-5 Tuach visited Morgantown the weekend of April 17, a week after receiving an offer from the Mountaineers, and pronounced WVU as his frontrunner. The Sudan native, who averaged 16.7 points and 6.2 rebounds as a sophomore, also was being recruited by VCU, Middle Tennessee State, St. Bonaventure and Norfolk State.

With one scholarship open next season—stemming from the recent transfer of BillyDee Williams—West Virginia missed out on another prospect this week when Pitt graduate transfer Durand Johnson chose to spend his final year at St. John’s.
