Martinsburg man pleads guilty to distribution of explosives

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A man was convicted in federal court for unlawful selling explosives in Berkeley County last December.

Martinsburg resident Chris O’Connor, 37, faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine after pleading guilty Monday to one count of unlicensed distribution of explosive materials.

O’Connor was charged with selling 23 quarter sticks and seven ping pong balls—all of which contained flash powder—to an unnamed individual on Dec. 19, 2014, court records showed.

He is scheduled to be sentence Aug. 3.

The case was investigated by West Virginia state police, the FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
