Police ID body of missing St. Albans woman

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. — A body recovered in Gallia County, Ohio, earlier this week has been identified as a missing Kanawha County woman.

The recovered body of Frances Wartenburg, missing since February, was identified Tuesday using dental records.

Dental records confirmed Tuesday the identification of 33-year-old St. Albans resident Frances Wartenburg, who had been missing since Feb. 22. She left a cousin’s birthday party that day in Jefferson, W.Va., and reportedly went to her boyfriend’s home, where she left her cell phone and clothing.

She was reported missing March 4.

Wartenburg’s family said she suffered from a bipolar disorder.

Family members staged a bake sale last month in an attempt to raise money for flyers and perhaps a private investigator.

Police were still investigating the case late Tuesday with no cause of death yet announced.
