Logan coach charged with sex crimes

LOGAN, W.Va. — A history teacher and assistant basketball coach at Logan High School was arrested Thursday and charged with having sex with students.

The State Police Crimes Against Children Unit charged Ryan Waugh, 32, of Stollings, with 11 counts of sexual abuse and one count of using obscene material to seduce a minor.

Investigators said they uncovered credible information that showed Waugh was involved in sexual relationships “with at least a couple of students.”

Waugh is an assistant coach on both the girls and boys basketball teams.

The Logan County Board of Education placed Waugh on leave Thursday. He posted bond in Logan County Magistrate Court.
