Youth football coach pleads guilty to party-related charges

MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. — A Marshall County youth football coach pleaded guilty Friday to three charges in connection to behavior he had with kids on his team a few months ago. James Gray, 46, of Roundbottom, pleaded guilty to child neglect, providing alcohol to minors and distributing obscene materials.

Prosecutors said Gray had some of the kids at his home for a birthday party when he took some of them on a wild drive as part of a beer run. He also encouraged the kids to drink once they returned home and he ordered a pay-per-view movie that was pornographic in nature.

Gray was sentenced to five months in jail. He’ll be allowed to leave the jail for work release followed by 18 months probation. Gray is being held in the Northern Regional Jail.

Gray’s wife, Dessie, is still facing charges in connection with the incident.
