BIG CHIMNEY, W.Va. — Two men are custody charged in connection with the attempted robbery of a Kanawha County bank Friday afternoon.
A man walked into the United Bank in Big Chimney at around 2 p.m. and demanded money. Police released surveillance photos a short time after the crime.
Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Cpl. Brian Humphreys numerous tips Friday evening led deputies to a residence in Pinch where the suspect vehicle was located. Deputies later charged Bobby Wolfe, 33, and Timothy Kerns, 38, both of Elkview, with attempted bank robbery.
Humphreys said Wolfe told police the pair stole clothes and gloves to use in the robbery. Wolfe said he drove the getaway car.
Both men are being held in the South Central Regional Jail.
