UNIONTOWN, Pa. — The suspect in a Morgantown bank robbery was arrested hours later by Pennsylvania state police after a high-speed chase.
Stephen William Gaza, IV, 34, of Masontown, Pa. was taken into custody at 2:48 p.m. Monday, shortly after he allegedly attempted to rob Huntington Bank on High Street.
Gaza was arrested after a reported armed robbery at United Bank in South Union Township. He was accused of pulling a gun, demanding cash and making off with a substantial amount of money.
State police said Gaza led them on a high-speed chase through two townships.
While in custody, investigators said Gaza confessed to attempting to rob the Morgantown bank.
Gaza was also accused in a PNC Bank robbery Monday and a Super K-Mart robbery June 7, both in Pennsylvania.
Gaza faces charges of armed robbery, robbery, theft by unlawful taking, simple assault, reckless endangering, fleeing and eluding.
