CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Wheeling Central football coach Mike Young is heading into Saturday’s North-South Football Classic leading a North squad that’s looking for its first win in the series since 2009.
It’s Young’s second coaching stint in the statewide all-star football game for graduated seniors – he also served as an assistant to Oak Glen’s Tony Filberto in the 2012 North-South Football Classic.
“I’m a big promoter of playing every play to be your last play, you never know,” Young said. “You want to be able to go out on a positive note and know that you gave it your best. We’re going to have four quarters of football with some of the best players in the state of West Virginia.
“These kids are representing their name, their family name and their school name,” he continued. “They have a lot of pride involved and I focus in on that – we have a game to play and let’s go out and show what you have. The better team will win and we’ll have a good evening.”
The complete interview with Young is posted above.
