Wayne County crash kills 12-year-old girl

FORT GAY, W.Va. — A 12-year-old girl was killed in a car crash Friday afternoon on U.S. Route 52, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. when a southbound vehicle veered into the northbound lane and crashed into a hillside.

The girl, a passenger in the car, died at the scene. A second child and the driver were air-lifted to a hospital, police said.

The names of the victims were not released, pending notification of family members.
