Yeager Airport decides on contractor to fix hillside

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Yeager Airport selected S & E Clearing and Hydroseeding of Varney in Mingo County Tuesday to removed the collapsed area of the airport’s overrun area.

S&E submitted the lowest bid out of seven at $1.51 million for the project, which is scheduled to begin on July 9.

The Yeager board recently refinanced its parking garage bond to help raise the money for the work. Yeager staff hopes to have 75 percent of the project paid for through an emergency assistance grant.

The hillside at the airport collapsed in March, destroying two homes and a church on Keystone Drive.
