Kanawha County man killed in motorcycle crash

Kanawha County sheriff”s deputies say this pick-up collided with a motorcycle Thursday morning on Coal River Road near St. Albans. The truck came across the center line.

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. — A motorcyclist was killed Thursday morning in a collision on Coal River Road near St. Albans in Kanawha County.

Tornado resident Richard “Dick” Smoot, 67, died after his cycle was hit by an oncoming pick-up truck that had crossed the center line in a curve near Mountain Breeze Lane according to Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies.

The driver of the truck, a 21-year-old man from Hurricane, suffered minor injuries.

Smoot was thrown from the bike following the collision.

The evidence from the crash scene is being reviewed by deputies. No charges have been filed.
