Logan County mother charged in the death of her son

CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — The mother of a baby found dead in Logan County last month was charged Thursday in the death of her son.

Chapmanville resident Angela Adams, 27, was charged with child neglect resulting in death. The baby was found dead on June 19, the day he turned one month old.

Adams allegedly took several Xanax pills and fell asleep on the couch with the child. At some point during the night, she suffocated the child when she leaned over.

Adams admitted to taking Xanax and to being impaired before she fell asleep, according to criminal complaint.
