Virginia man arrives early Friday at Old White’s 18th

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — A Virginia man arrived early on the Old White Course at The Greenbrier Friday morning in hopes of seeing another hole-in-one.

Ike Turner was one of the few hundred people that were handed cash Thursday from resort owner Jim Justice after PGA golfers George McNeil and Justin Thomas scored aces. As part of Justice’s promotion, it was $100 to everyone at the 18th the first time and $500 the second time.

“I heard it hit, thump! I looked up and went into the hole,” is how Turner described McNeil’s shot. “Jim then came by and gave everyone $100.”

The next stop for Turner was the resort’s casino.

“I made 110-percent on my investment,” he said.

The golf fan wasn’t bashful about getting to the 18th early Monday. He knew a third hole-in-one would mean $1,000 for everyone there.

“I got a thousand reasons why I’m here today and most of them have a dollar sign in front of them,” Turner laughed.
