Woman swept away by Lincoln County flood waters

HARTS CREEK, W.Va. — A woman drowned early Saturday morning after she and three others tried to cross a flooded road in Lincoln County.

The victim, identified by state police as Katherine Runyon, 48, had gotten out of the stuck vehicle with the three others who were in the car. They made it through the water but she didn’t, troopers said. Runyon’s body was found a mile downstream in Big Harts Creek.

The accident occurred at around 2 a.m., Runyon’s body was found at around 9 a.m. The other people in the car were not injured.
