Man killed in Jefferson County accident involving ATV

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. — A Jefferson County man was killed Monday after the ATV he was riding on collided with a pick-up truck.

Jefferson County Sheriff Pete Dougherty identified the victim as Charles Clark, Jr., 58, of Harpers Ferry.

Dougherty said Clark was driving the ATV in the area of W.Va. 115 and Hostler Road near Harpers Ferry when it stalled on him.

Investigators believe it was an unfortunate accident.

“His vehicle popped out onto the public roadway,” Dougherty explained.

He said Clark was “hit by a truck that was doing nothing wrong.”

Dougherty said the truck driver showed no signs of impairment and was not charged.

The accident was reported shortly after 6:00 Monday evening.
