WVAWC works to repair broken main in Sutton

SUTTON, W.Va. — West Virginia American Water worked Tuesday to repair an 8-inch transmission main in Sutton that was damaged by a hill slip from the heavy rains in Braxton County.

Customers were notified around noon on Tuesday that the storage tank was at low levels and could result in outages later in the day.

Repairs were expected to be completed by 7 p.m., but the full restoration process could take up to eight hours. Customers in higher elevations would see service take longer to return.

A 7,500 water buffalo was stationed at the Foodland on Route 4 between Gassaway and Sutton. A boil water advisory was issued earlier on Tuesday and will stay in effect until further notice.
