MAHAN, W.Va. — Traffic was slowed Tuesday morning on the West Virginia Turnpike following a crash that involved three tractor-trailers in Fayette County.
The crash took place in the northbound lanes between the Mossy and Mahan exits. The chain reaction crash began when one of the trucks jack-knifed, police said.
Both northbound lanes were closed for a few hours after the 5 a.m. accident but Turnpike crews had the fast lane open by 8:30 a.m. The initial shutdown caused a several mile long backup of northbound traffic on the Turnpike, which includes interstates 77 and 64.
There was at least one injury, police said.
