CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The co-owners of a Harrison County bakery weren’t sure what to expect in a Thursday meeting with Sheetz corporate leaders.
Last Friday, the family owned business that provides pepperoni rolls to 117 Sheetz stores in West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania, received an email the company was moving to a warehouse program and moving away from all pepperoni roll direct store delivery suppliers.
The Mazzas were expecting Aug. 3 as the last date of delivery.
Monday, they were invited to a meeting at Sheetz headquarters in Altoona, Pa. That was after a weekend of social media outcry that went so far as to threaten boycotts of the convenience store.
Dennis Mazza is expected to speak with media this afternoon at the conclusion of the meeting between Sheetz and bakery owners.
Reports have been circulating that Sheetz is considering reversing the decision.
The following a statement released by Sheetz Thursday afternoon:
“We want our customers to know that we listen to their feedback and truly take their opinions into consideration. Our goal is to ensure that pepperoni rolls made in West Virginia are in every Sheetz location in West Virginia. We are currently evaluating many potential West Virginia based partners to fulfill this need. These new partnerships will allow for a more consistent offer and ultimately a better customer experience. We thank our West Virginia customers for their honest feedback and their support during this evaluation process.”
