John Flowers raises money with WVU alumni game

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Former West Virginia forward John Flowers and J Flow Entertainment hosted the ‘Inaugural West Virginia Men’s Basketball Alumni Game’ on Saturday at Morgantown High School.

The game, which featured Mountaineers spanning back to the 1970s, featured an all-star score of 133-126 that would’ve been right at home i the 1970s. The White squad led by Flowers—consisting of players such as Tyrone Sally, Joe Mazzulla and Wellington Smith—pulled out the win.

The Da’Sean Butler-captained Blue team trailed by 24 heading into the fourth quarter before Truck Bryant led a comeback to within three points. Fan favorites Kevin Jones and former Lakers forward Devin Ebanks were among the members drafted by Butler.

Like any good alumni all-star game, defense departed part way through the first quarter and made room for the 259 combined points, including highlight-reel dunks by Flowers and Ebanks.

Proceeds went to the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Fund which included ticket and raffle sales, and a ball auctioned off at halftime that sold for $1,100 to Smith’s parents.
