GRAFTON, W.Va. — A shooting outside a Taylor County bar ended with one person being flown to the hospital and a suspect in police custody.
Kimberly Rector, 54, of Bridgeport, is alleged to have shot Bob Rector, 67, also of Bridgeport, in the abdomen with a handgun along the intersection of Rt. 50 and Wendel Road, near the White Front Tavern in Grafton, according to Taylor County Sheriff Terring Skinner.
Deputies, along with State Police and the Grafton Fire Department responded to the scene at 11:34 p.m. Tuesday night and HealthNet was called to fly Bob Rector to Ruby Memorial Hospital. No word on his condition at this time.
Kimberly Rector was arrested and charged with malicious wounding and wanton endangerment with firearm. She was transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail to await arraignment, which was expected to be done Wednesday afternoon.
Sheriff Skinner said that the two at one point were married but did not comment on if they were still together at the time of the incident.
The Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation and more information –including a motive– is expected to be released as it continues.
