Former Cabell-Midland star Carter earns scholarship with Herd

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Former Cabell-Midland standout Cody Carter had been placed on scholarship, Marshall coach Doc Holliday also announced Monday.

Carter made nine tackles on special teams last season.

The 5-foot-10, 178-pound defensive back is listed on Marshall’s third string.

“Guys in this program who are truly invested and work extremely hard, that are tough, get rewarded,” Holliday said. “He’s a tremendous kid. He’s a local guy and football is important to him.”

Carter started his college career at the University of Charleston in 2012 then transferred to Marshall, sitting out the 2013 season.
