Search in Marion County set to resume after woman reportedly fell into river while fishing

WORTHINGTON, W.Va. — The search for a woman who disappeared into the West Fork River in Marion County while fishing was scheduled to resume Wednesday morning after efforts were unsuccessful the night before.

Emergency crews, which eventually included a dive team, were initially called to Worthington Park at approximately 8:15 Tuesday night near Meadowridge Road.

The woman –reported to be in her 40s– was fishing with a friend when she waded into the river near the dam, fell and then was not seen again.

After several hours, the search was put on hold at around 11:30 p.m. but Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies continued to monitor the area.

The search was scheduled to resume early Wednesday morning, according to officials.
