Worker killed on Hampshire County construction site

ROMNEY, W.Va. — An employee was killed on a highway construction site in Hampshire County on Wednesday night.

Authorities say Mark Haines of New Creek was killed when he was struck and run over by the rolling milling machine. The accident happened along U.S. Route 50 near Hampshire High School.

Emergency crews were called around 9 p.m. and found the worker dead at the scene.

State police were investigating the case.
