One person transported to hospital after vehicle runs off Rt. 50 in Taylor County

THORNTON, W.Va. — A woman was flown to the hospital after police say she blacked out at the wheel, her vehicle ran off the road and hit an unoccupied mobile home in Taylor County.

It’s unclear at this time why Susan Eichhorn, 60, lost consciousness, but officials with Harrison/Taylor 911 said crews were called to the scene along Rt. 50 in Thornton at approximately 7:16 Friday morning.

HealthNet was requested to fly Eichhorn to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment. The only time the road was closed was when the helicopter was on site.

The extent of Eichhorn’s injuries are unknown at this time.

The fire departments from Thornton and Grafton, Taylor County EMS and the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department all responded to the call.
