Early-morning fire injures 2 in Fayette County

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — An 81-year-old woman was in critical condition and a 54-year-old man listed in stable condition after an early-morning house fire in Fayette County.

The names of the two injured individuals were not immediately released.

They were initially taken to Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, but had to be transported by air ambulance to Cabell-Huntington Hospital.

The fire began around 3:45 a.m. on Jacobs Corner near Gatewood Road.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
